New paper by Dr Victoria Baines is now published.
This research identifies opportunities for improvement in the international response to the range of criminal activities known as online child sexual exploitation (OCSE). Drawing on a review of academic and grey literature, and using the techniques of visioning and horizon scanning, it maps the functions of an optimal international response, and compares this ideal to existing responses from the global stakeholder community. Horizon scanning serves specifically to provide foresight of emerging technological and social developments with potential to impact on the effectiveness of responses to OCSE. Opportunities for greater international coordination are identified in respect of transnational data transfer for criminal justice procedures, fast-time crisis response to live incidents of OCSE, and analysis that is truly representative of all countries and sectors, regularly updated and forward looking.Dr Victoria Baines
